Web Design for Creatives: Ruth Martin
Launched: August 2024
I had the joy of redesigning german-to-english-translation.org for award-winning translator Ruth Martin. My focus was on reorganising her extensive service offerings and client testimonials, ensuring potential clients could quickly recognise and appreciate her expertise and value.
We worked together in the months leading up to the publication of Ruth's translation of Freedom, the memoirs of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. As she was attending to final revision deadlines, I made sure to implement clear feedback tools and systems. This meant (1) using Google Meet for discussions, (2) keeping communications as focussed and efficient as possible, and (3) sharing interim website demos for review. I also provided a thorough training session on how to independently and easily update her brand-new Squarespace website at the end of our collaboration.
In prioritising partnership, I stayed flexible and sensitive to my client's schedule, adjusting phase delivery timelines as needed, while ensuring that key project goals were still met.

Browser Plugin Development: Click-to-Select

As a largely self-taught front-end developer, I've built my skills through online courses and hands-on projects. While I deeply enjoy the visual and interactive side of front-end work, I consciously took on the challenge of browser extension development to think beyond aesthetics and focus on core functionality.
I developed the Click-to-Select browser extension from scratch, offering an intuitive alternative to traditional drag-and-drop text selection. This project stretched my abilities, challenging me to focus deeply on user interaction. Click-to-Select, now downloadable from Chrome Web Store, is the result of my knack for identifying user pain points related to information access, then producing elegant, functional solutions that simplify digital tasks. Ultimately, it's about enhancing the user's ability to quickly "take in" and utilise content.

WordPress Blog Creation: Menus of Off Menu
Launched: June 2025
I developed Menus of Off Menu, a dynamic WordPress blog dedicated to compiling guest menus from the popular comedy/food podcast Off Menu. Each individual 'menu' blog post features external recipe links, enabling readers to recreate dishes at home. I also enrich the posts with resources on cookery skills, fun facts, and curated product recommendations. A key achievement was efficiently modifying WordPress template files to speed up the generation of hundreds of reusable resource links and several menu posts without compromising quality and consistency.
By taking time to truly understand the podcast's unique voice and style for this project—its signature blend of whimsy, warmth, and comedic flair— I embraced a colourful, bold design to perfectly match the show's personality. In departing from my usual minimalist style, I made sure to create an online space that would deeply resonate with Menus of Off Menu's well-established fanbase, showcasing my versatility and readiness to adapt my style.
